Key takeaways
- All twelve platforms Lanshore implements or supports state on their own pages that they serve enterprise-scale organizations or complex incentive plans, so fit comes down to your plan mechanics, data, and systems estate.
- Of the twelve, only Incentivate and Salesforce Spiff publish a list price on the vendor pages we reviewed.
- Oracle and Salesforce Spiff tie incentive compensation closely to their own suites, which helps inside those estates and is worth testing outside them.
- Replacing a legacy SPM system is a choice between replace, re-platform, and augment, and the right answer depends on where the legacy pain actually sits.
For complex enterprise incentive plans, twelve SPM platforms worth evaluating are Akeron (Vulki), Anaplan, beqom, CaptivateIQ, Forma.ai, Incentivate, Oracle, Performio, Salesforce Spiff, SAP Incentive Management, Varicent, and Xactly. Each states on its own site that it serves enterprise-scale organizations or complex incentive plans. The right choice depends on your hardest plan mechanics, your data volumes, and the CRM, ERP, and HR systems the platform has to work with. If you are replacing a legacy system, the section on legacy replacement below covers that decision.
How we compared
- Candidate pool. We started from the twelve platforms Lanshore implements or supports: the nine on our platform comparison, plus Oracle, beqom, and Forma.ai, which are supported through our partner network. That scope is a limitation, and we state it openly: platforms outside it were not assessed here.
- Inclusion rule. A platform is listed if the vendor's own product, pricing, or customer-segment pages state that it serves enterprise-scale organizations or complex incentive plans. The sentence we relied on is quoted in each section, and the page is listed in the sources.
- Evidence rule. Every claim about a platform comes from that vendor's own pages; each page is listed in the sources below with the date we retrieved it. Where a vendor does not publish something, the table says "Not published", meaning we did not find it on the vendor pages we reviewed. No guessed pricing, no ratings, no analyst rankings.
- Order. Platforms appear in alphabetical order, which is not a ranking.
- Not listed. No platform in the pool failed the inclusion rule, so none is excluded. Lighter tools for smaller teams are covered in our comparisons of platforms for replacing commission spreadsheets and software for small sales teams.
Our relationship with these vendors. Lanshore implements Akeron, Anaplan, CaptivateIQ, Incentivate, Performio, Salesforce Spiff, SAP SuccessFactors Incentive Management (now SAP Incentive Management), Varicent, and Xactly, and resells none of them. Oracle, beqom, and Forma.ai are supported through our partner network. Lanshore is not listed as a vendor here, because it does not sell SPM software. The "Lanshore relationship" column states the relationship for each platform.

1. Akeron (Vulki)
Akeron's Vulki platform says it uses "a powerful calculation and simulation engine to manage commissions, bonuses, contests, and spiffs of any complexity." Its DataFlow layer offers "Modern no-code ETL with pre-built connectors to any enterprise system," and it lists "Automated accruals, forward-looking cost projections, and full audit trails." Akyba, its agent center, is described as a governed layer where domain-specific agents work "within defined rules, and with full human oversight."
- Strengths: a no-code calculation engine for many incentive types, plus data preparation inside the platform rather than in a separate tool.
- Best for: enterprises that pay incentives to sales and non-sales roles and want business users configuring plans.
- Watch out for: pricing and implementation time are not published. Lanshore implements Vulki; see our Akeron page.
2. Anaplan
Anaplan approaches incentives from connected planning. Its sales and revenue performance management page says customers can "Design, align, and scale incentives across hundreds of plans, thousands of payees, and millions of transactions," and it promises to "Connect and integrate planning data from any source" while combining "security, governance, and intuitive useability in one scalable platform."
- Strengths: incentives, territories, quotas, and capacity modeled in the same environment as finance planning.
- Best for: enterprises that treat sales planning and incentives as part of enterprise planning.
- Watch out for: the pages we reviewed present incentives inside a broader planning platform, so scope the incentive compensation build as its own workstream. Pricing is not published. Lanshore implements Anaplan; see our Anaplan page.
3. beqom
beqom positions PaySuite as total-compensation software. It says it has "been working with the world's largest organizations on compensation and performance challenges for more than a decade," and its compensation management page says customers can "Easily manage complex, multi-KPI bonus structures and dynamic payout curves" and "Deploy sales bonuses faster." It describes "a single, audit-ready ecosystem" for salary and variable incentives, with integrations to HRIS and payroll systems.
- Strengths: salary, bonus, and variable incentives governed in one system of record, with approval controls at every stage.
- Best for: global enterprises that want sales incentives managed alongside merit, bonus, and pay equity.
- Watch out for: sales incentives are one part of a broader compensation suite, so test your commission mechanics specifically. Pricing is not published. beqom is supported through our partner network.
4. CaptivateIQ
CaptivateIQ's enterprise page describes "a solution built for the speed and scale of today's Enterprises." Its SmartGrid engine lets users "manage, model, and calculate their data in real-time, at scale, all with no code," and it connects to CRM, ERP, and HRIS systems "with our native connectors and APIs." Its homepage says its compliance program undergoes "annual independent audits for SOC 1 and SOC 2 compliance."
- Strengths: no-code modeling for plans that change often, with native connectors and an open API.
- Best for: enterprise teams that iterate on complex plans frequently and want analysts, not developers, to own the logic.
- Watch out for: pricing is quote-only and seats count admin users plus payees. ASC 606 reporting is an add-on subscription. The pricing page says it can be up and running "in a matter of weeks instead of months." Lanshore implements CaptivateIQ; see our CaptivateIQ page.
5. Forma.ai
Forma.ai calls itself "AI-powered enterprise sales compensation software combining intelligent, data-driven sales planning with flexible incentive compensation." It says its guided workflow "makes configuring even the most complex plans fast and effortless," and it promises "audit-ready controls for approvals, validation, and regulatory adherence," with HRIS and payroll integration.
- Strengths: sales planning analytics and incentive compensation in one product, with data science support for plan design.
- Best for: enterprises that want plan modeling and coverage analytics tied directly to incentive calculation.
- Watch out for: pricing is not published; the pricing page describes a one-time fee that covers setup. Forma.ai is supported through our partner network.
6. Incentivate
Incentivate says customers can "Effortlessly design complex incentive plans with our no-code sales commission software," with tools to "process large volumes of data efficiently." It also offers deployment options beyond SaaS: "Host Incentivate on your private cloud or on-premise infrastructure to retain complete control over your data and processes." It publishes pricing: "Incentivate starts at $15 per user per month," with implementations starting at $8,000.
- Strengths: private cloud and on-premise deployment, plus a published starting price.
- Best for: enterprises with data-residency or IT policy requirements that rule out multi-tenant ICM.
- Watch out for: the published prices are starting points; the pricing page says final pricing depends on user count, plan complexity, data sources, workflow requirements, and reporting scope. Lanshore implements Incentivate; see our Incentivate page.
7. Oracle
Oracle Fusion Cloud Sales Performance Management says it can "Handle even the most complex and large-scale compensation plan structures, calculation rules, direct or overlay sales-credit allocation, and hierarchical roll-up rules." It uses "full ERP and HCM integration for accurate compensation crediting," and "With out-of-the-box Oracle Payroll integration, incentive compensation payments can be seamlessly embedded into the payslip."
- Strengths: crediting and roll-up depth, with incentives connected to Oracle ERP, HCM, and payroll.
- Best for: enterprises that already run Oracle Fusion applications.
- Watch out for: the page we reviewed centers on Oracle's own suite, so estates on other ERP or HR systems should test integration effort early. Pricing is not published. Oracle is supported through our partner network.
8. Performio
Performio's homepage says it is "Ideal for organizations with 70+ commissionable employees and complex commission plans," and that it "ingests sales commission and incentive data as-is from CRM, ERP, HRIS, and finance systems." It also promises to "Power global compensation programs with scale, security, and control." Its pricing page says every subscription includes "24/7 global support."
- Strengths: data ingestion designed for imperfect source systems, with support hours stated on the pricing page.
- Best for: mid-market and enterprise teams with complex plans fed by several data sources.
- Watch out for: pricing is not published; subscription pricing scales with participants and capabilities, and implementation is a separate one-time cost. Lanshore implements Performio; see our Performio page.
9. Salesforce Spiff
Salesforce says Spiff can "Automate even the most intricate commission structures and nuances like accelerators, tiers, triggers, and more," and "Connect everything from CRM, ERP, HCM, payroll, or any other system." It offers commission tracing and "automated, audit-ready expense reports" for ASC 606 and IFRS 15. Pricing is published: an SPM add-on at $75 per user per month.
- Strengths: reps see earnings inside Salesforce, and tracing shows how each payout was calculated.
- Best for: enterprises that sell in Salesforce.
- Watch out for: Salesforce says all per-user products require an annual contract and that it does not currently offer Spiff trial licenses. Salesforce also says plans can be set up "in days, not weeks or months," which describes plan setup rather than a full enterprise rollout. Lanshore implements Spiff; see our Spiff page.
10. SAP Incentive Management
SAP's product page says customers can "Design, model, and optimize highly flexible and complex incentive compensation plans" and "Develop and distribute strategic incentive compensation plans at scale to drive the right sales outcomes for your global workforce." It offers one-click traceability for compensation inquiries and prescriptive AI recommendations for plan optimization.
- Strengths: calculation scale for global workforces, with inquiry and dispute tools built in.
- Best for: large enterprises with high transaction volumes, especially those already invested in SAP.
- Watch out for: pricing and implementation time are not published. SAP's site now lists the product as SAP Incentive Management; Lanshore's page uses its earlier SuccessFactors name. Lanshore implements it; see our SAP Incentive Management page.
11. Varicent
Varicent's commission software page says it "is designed to support mid-sized to large enterprises with complex sales compensation needs, including multiple territories and quotas." It provides "a complete audit trail of any changes to maintain data accuracy and compliance," role-level dashboards, and quota planning and territory optimization on the same platform.
- Strengths: depth for complex plan mechanics, connected territory and quota planning, and an audit trail of changes.
- Best for: mid-sized to large enterprises with complex, high-volume plans.
- Watch out for: no published pricing or implementation time, and a team with simple plans may use little of the suite. Lanshore implements and operates Varicent; see our Varicent page.
12. Xactly
Xactly says Incent "handles the most complex calculations with the ability to add tens of thousands of payees, process billions of transactions every month, and quickly add new data sources when needed." It supports ASC 606 and IFRS 15, integrates data from CRM, ERP, and HCM software, and gives teams "a complete audit trail to back it all up."
- Strengths: stated scale, finance-side commission accounting, and audit trail.
- Best for: enterprises that need scale and finance controls from day one.
- Watch out for: Xactly's pricing page says "Pricing depends on how many people you're paying and how complex your plans are," and no list price or implementation time is published. Lanshore implements Xactly; see our Xactly page.
Replacing a legacy SPM system
Legacy SPM systems usually fail in predictable places: plans that need workarounds to calculate, crediting changes that take a release cycle, manual adjustments nobody can trace, and a shrinking group of people who understand the build. Our posts on why legacy SPM breaks global sales teams and nine signs your enterprise SPM needs modernization cover the symptoms.
There are three legitimate answers, and the guide to modernizing legacy SPM systems walks through the decision:
- Replace. Implement a new platform and retire the legacy engine, when the engine cannot model your plans, cannot scale, or is reaching end of support.
- Re-platform. Move to the vendor's current-generation product, or rebuild the implementation cleanly on the platform you own, when the platform is capable but the build is the problem.
- Augment. Keep the engine and add what it lacks, such as audit logic, reporting, workflows, or agents, when the engine calculates correctly and the pain sits around it.
If you replace, the platforms above publish specific improvements worth testing against your legacy pain points. Varicent describes a complete audit trail of changes, and Xactly says it keeps "a complete audit trail to back it all up." SAP says plans can be modeled, tested, and rolled out "without relying on IT." Performio describes ingesting data as-is from CRM, ERP, HRIS, and finance systems. Incentivate offers private cloud and on-premise deployment for teams whose legacy system runs on their own infrastructure. Treat each as a claim to verify in a proof of concept with your own plans and data.
How Lanshore helps
Lanshore is platform-agnostic: it evaluates vendors against your hardest plan components and data, implements the chosen platform, and can run comp operations afterwards as a managed service. Our guide to choosing SPM software covers the evaluation, and the platform comparison sets out what each of the nine implemented platforms does.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best SPM software for complex enterprise incentive plans?
There is no single best platform. All twelve platforms in this comparison state on their own pages that they serve enterprise-scale organizations or complex incentive plans. Varicent says it is designed for mid-sized to large enterprises with complex sales compensation needs, Xactly says Incent can add tens of thousands of payees and process billions of transactions every month, and Oracle says it handles even the most complex and large-scale compensation plan structures. The right choice depends on your hardest plan mechanics, your data volumes, and the CRM, ERP, and HR systems the platform has to work with.
What are the options for replacing a legacy SPM system?
There are three: replace the legacy engine with a new platform, re-platform onto the vendor's current product or a clean rebuild on the platform you own, or augment the engine you keep with the audit logic, reporting, workflows, or agents it lacks. Replacing fits when the engine cannot model your plans or is reaching end of support. Augmenting fits when the engine calculates correctly and the pain sits around it.
Which enterprise SPM platforms publish their prices?
Two of the twelve publish list prices on the vendor pages we reviewed. Incentivate states that it starts at $15 per user per month, with implementations starting at $8,000. Salesforce lists Spiff as an SPM add-on at $75 per user per month, with an annual contract. The other ten do not list a price on the pages we reviewed.
How long does an enterprise SPM implementation take?
Few vendors publish a figure. CaptivateIQ says it can be up and running in a matter of weeks instead of months, and Salesforce says Spiff plans can be set up in days, not weeks or months. The other ten platforms do not state an implementation time on the pages we reviewed. In practice, the number of plans, undocumented plan logic, and the state of the source data decide the timeline.
Does Lanshore resell any of these platforms?
No.
